Unimas student dies from Covid-19 in Sarawak

KUCHING: A 23-year-old Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) student from Kota Samarahan has died from Covid-19, bringing the total number of deaths in the state to 13.

The state disaster management committee said the viictim’s parents had also tested positive for the virus.

“The victim had experienced breathing difficulties on March 30 and was admitted to the intensive care unit at Sarawak General Hospital on the same day.

“The victim passed away at 9.42am today,” the committee said in a statement.

Six new Covid-19 cases were also reported today, bringing the total in the state to 312. Five of the new cases are being treated at the Sarawak General Hospital and the other at Bintulu Hospital.

One hundred and forty-one persons under investigation (PUI) were also reported today, making the total 2,005.

Thirty-nine patients have recovered and have been discharged so far.
