College student held for throwing newborn out of 13th-floor apartment

GEORGE TOWN: An 18-year-old woman was arrested by police on suspicion of hurling her newborn baby from her apartment in Bandar Baru Air Itam here this morning.

Northeast district police chief Soffian Santong said the woman claimed that she had stomach aches at 6.30am.

She claimed when she was trying to pass motion, the baby “fell” into the toilet bowl.

At 8.25am, the woman allegedly wrapped the baby with a T-shirt and threw it through a window at the back of her 13th-floor apartment.

“The baby was found by residents on the fourth floor car park and they alerted police,” he said.

Soffian said the woman’s 18-year-old boyfriend was arrested at his home on Jalan Penawar. He said the couple will be remanded for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
