2 new Covid-19 cases, lowest in more than 2 weeks

PUTRAJAYA: The health ministry this evening reported two new Covid-19 cases – the lowest in more than two weeks – against four recoveries.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham said the two cases, which push the total number of infections to 9,001, were local transmissions involving Malaysians.

One was detected from the PUI Sivagangga cluster in Kedah, while the other involved a college student in Labuan.

The student, who tested positive in a random test, did not display any symptoms.

The number of recoveries now stands at 8,668, with 208 still active.

Only one case is being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU).

No new deaths were recorded, with the toll remaining at 125.

Noor Hisham said that as of noon today, 425 individuals from the PUI Sivagangga cluster had been screened. Of the total, 21 tested positive, while 42 are still awaiting results.

He also said between June 10 and July 23, individuals from seven clusters had been placed under the home surveillance order.
