PETALING JAYA: Police arrested 127 people yesterday for flouting the recovery movement control order (RMCO), Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today.

He said eight of them had been remanded while 119 were fined. Sixty-five of them were arrested for failing to comply with SOPs and 62 for participating in activities that made physical distancing difficult.

Ismail said in a statement that police also detained an individual for immigration offences as part of the ongoing Ops Benteng.

“Yesterday, the police conducted 1,969 checks on people undergoing their 14-day home quarantine,” he said.
