PETALING JAYA: New Covid-19 cases outpaced recoveries, with 25 cases detected in the last 24 hours, 12 of them from the Sivagangga cluster. This pushes the total number of cases to 9,063.
Fifteen patients were discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries to 8,728.
The number of active cases now stand at 210, with two patients being treated at the ICU and one needing respiratory assistance.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the 25 new cases, 16 were local transmissions, including 15 involving Malaysians.
The sole foreigner among the local transmissions was an undocumented migrant in Johor.
Of the 15 Malaysians, 12 are from the PUI Sivagangga cluster.
Noor Hisham said to date 3,246 people from the cluster had been screened, with 43 testing positive.
“A total of 1,884 close contacts have been identified.”
Eight of the nine imported cases involve Malaysians.
No new deaths were recorded and the death toll remains at 125.
