Independents under Dr M’s bloc to be seated together

Dr Mahathir Mohamad is seated a distance from his five allies in the Dewan Rakyat.

BATU PAHAT: The seating for the six independent MPs in Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s bloc in the Dewan Rakyat will be reviewed as they are now placed apart from each other.

Deputy speaker Mohd Rashid Hasnon said this is necessary as the six MPs are often overlooked during the meetings and only those from the government and opposition benches are given the chance to give their views.

“If we look at the seating now, the Langkawi MP (Mahathir) is in front, far from the other five, making it difficult for them to discuss an issue being debated. So we will put them together in one place,” he told reporters after a community programme here today.
