11 new Covid-19 cases against 8 recoveries

PUTRAJAYA: Eleven new Covid-19 cases were reported by the health ministry today, pushing the total number of infected patients nationwide to 9,114 with 172 active cases.

There were no new Covid-19 related deaths, with the toll remaining at 125.

In a statement today, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said two patients are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), with none requiring respiratory assistance.

He said eight patients have recovered, bringing the total number of patients discharged so far to 8,817.

Noor Hisham said the 11 new cases comprised three local transmissions and eight imported cases.

The imported cases involved seven Malaysians and one foreigner. The infections originated from Japan, Australia, Singapore and the Philippines.

The three domestic infections involved two Malaysians and one foreigner.

The two Malaysian patients were both identified in Kedah and have been admitted to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital. The cases are not related.

The other domestic case involved a foreigner in Sabah who was screened at the Tawau police station.
