PUTRAJAYA: The health ministry today announced 12 new Covid-19 cases, including 10 local transmissions.
This brings the infection tally to 9,212, with 211 cases still receiving treatment as of noon today.
Seven of the 10 local transmissions came from the Tawar cluster, with four detected in Kedah and three in Penang. The cluster currently has 46 positive cases.
As of noon today, a total of 1,135 individuals in Kedah, Penang and Perak have been screened in connection with the cluster, with 838 testing negative and 251 awaiting results.
Meanwhile, the Sala cluster in Kedah recorded two new cases today, bringing the number of infections in the cluster to eight.
A total of 273 individuals in Kedah and Penang have been screened in connection with the cluster, with 218 testing negative and 49 awaiting results.
The remaining local transmission was from the Sungai Buloh Hospital.
The two imported cases involved citizens from the Philippines and Syria.
Overall, eight patients are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), with two needing respiratory assistance.
No new deaths were recorded today, with the toll remaining at 125.
Noor Hisham also announced that the MySejahtera contact tracing app now allows users to check in their dependents simultaneously when signing-in at premises, reducing the time taken for the mandatory registration process.
He said MySejahtera users can access the function by selecting the “More” button, followed by “Manage Dependents”. They will then be prompted to fill out the details of their dependents.
There is no limit to the number of names.
