TANJUNG MALIM: PPBM will discuss the appointment of Mohamed Azmin Ali as one of the party’s vice-presidents, its deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu said.
At the Kongres Negara 2020 in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, Azmin, who is the former PKR deputy president, officially announced that he and his supporters were joining PPBM, and later received his membership card from party president Muhyddin Yassin.
The three PPBM vice-presidents at present are Agriculture and Food Industries Minister Ronald Kiandee, Senior Minister for Education Mohd Radzi Md Jidin and Paya Rumput assembyman Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen.
Speaking to reporters after a visit to the Slim by-election media centre, near here, Ahmad Faizal, who is also the Perak menteri besar, said the proposed appointment of Azmin as a vice-president would be discussed at an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to be called soon.
The EGM is primarily to amend the party constitution to attract more non-Malay and non-Bumiputera members, he said.
Currently, Segamat MP Santhara Kumar, who was one of 10 MPs sacked from PKR, is the only non-Bumiputera MP to be an associate member of PPBM.
