PETALING JAYA: Police detained 81 people yesterday for offences under the recovery movement control order (RMCO), Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today.

He said 59 people were fined and 22 remanded.

Sixteen of them were arrested for not wearing masks, 31 for not providing customers with tools to register at premises, 24 for activities that made physical distancing difficult and four for premises that operated overtime.

Six undocumented migrants were also detained, while another four migrants were arrested for immigration offences.

Ismail said the police also conducted 298 checks on those still undergoing home quarantine and found that all of them were in compliance with SOPs.

“The police, with health ministry officers, will continue to conduct checks and surveillance on the individuals involved to ensure that the SOPs are being complied with,” he said.

He also said the Construction Industry Development Board had issued warnings to four construction sites yesterday for violation of SOPs.
