Cops meet Khairuddin in Parliament for statement over SOP breach

Minister Khairuddin Aman Razali gave a statement to police in the Dewan Rakyat over his failure to go on mandatory quarantine.

PETALING JAYA: Police have recorded Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Khairuddin Aman Razali’s statement over his failure to observe the mandatory quarantine order following his return from overseas.

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) deputy director Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the Kuala Nerus MP’s statement was taken in Parliament, Bernama reported.

“It was not done at Bukit Aman, but at Parliament,” the national news agency quoted him as saying, although he did not reveal the time it was taken.

Earlier, it was reported that Bukit Aman has postponed their questioning of Khairuddin to tomorrow.

The PAS central committee member was previously fined RM1,000 by the health ministry for failing to observe the mandatory 14-day home quarantine after he returned from Turkey last month.

He then issued a public apology over his conduct and said he would donate four months of his salary to the Covid-19 relief fund.

Earlier today, Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said they would be “professional and transparent” in their probe on the minister.

He also said more witnesses would be called in the next few days.
