DAP MP slated to lead Public Accounts Committee

Public Accounts Committee deputy chairman Wong Kah Woh.

KUALA LUMPUR: Public Accounts Committee (PAC) deputy chairman Wong Kah Woh (PH-Ipoh Timur) is slated to be the committee’s new chief, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

Wong is expected to be proposed as PAC’s new chief later today to replace Noraini Ahmad (BN-Parit Sulong) who resigned after she was appointed as the higher education minister.

The new deputy chairman will be Azizah Mohd Dun (PPBM-Beaufort).

Today is the final day of Parliament.

In May, the Perikatan Nasional government decided to maintain the practice of the former Pakatan Harapan administration of appointing an MP from the opposition to lead PAC.

PAC looks at the accounts of the federation and the appropriation of the sums granted by Parliament to meet public expenditure.
