Perak govt withholding opposition leader’s office, claims DAP chief

Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming and state opposition leader Abdul Aziz Bari.

PETALING JAYA: Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming claims that the state government has been withholding a proper office in the state secretariat building from the new Perak opposition leader Abdul Aziz Bari, which he is entitled to.

The Teluk Intan MP said it had been almost four months since the appointment of Aziz.

“There are no staff, office equipment, official vehicle, salary and allowances given as allocated by Pakatan Harapan to the former Umno opposition leader Saarani (Mohamad) in 2018,” Nga said in a statement.

He said the delay and irresponsible attitude shown by the Perikatan Nasional state government was an insult to the Perak state assembly.

“I urge the Perak state government to take immediate action on this matter to prevent our democratic system from being corrupted by immature discriminatory practices.”

Aziz, too, had called out the state government for its continued failure to provide him with an official office and vehicle.

The Tebing Tinggi assemblyman said he had yet to be given access to the opposition leader’s office in the state secretariat building or an official vehicle.
