PETALING JAYA: The health ministry reported 82 new Covid-19 cases in the country today while 89 have been discharged.
This brings the total number of cases to 10,769 and recoveries to 9,785.
Of the new cases, 79 were local transmissions and three imported cases.
The death toll remains at 133.
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the 79 local infections involved 53 Malaysians and 26 foreigners.
A total of 64 new cases were detected in Sabah, with 33 from the Benteng cluster and 25 from the Bangau-Bangau cluster.
There were 851 active cases, with eight being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), four of them requiring respiratory assistance.
With the new cases detected in the Benteng cluster, the number of infections from there now stands at 776 cases, with 337 of them foreigners.
“As at noon today, 10,775 individuals have been screened from this cluster,” said Noor Hisham.
Meanwhile, the total number of cases for the Bangau-Bangau cluster has risen to 159, of which 155 are still waiting for their test results.
