PETALING JAYA: The health ministry reported 150 new Covid-19 cases today, with 146 local infections.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 50 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 9,835, or 90.07% of total infections.
In a tweet, Noor Hisham said the new cases brought the total number of cases recorded in the country to 10,919.
A total of 950 people are still being treated. Six of them are in the intensive care unit, with four requiring respiratory assistance.
One new death has been reported, increasing the toll to 134, or 1.23% of the total number of positive cases.
The latest Covid-19 death was that of an 81-year-old Malaysian woman who came down with fever and whooping cough on Sept 14. She was taken to Semporna Hospital three days later, the health ministry said.
“The Covid-19 screening was positive on Sept 22 and the case was transferred to Tawau Hospital on Sept 26. The condition of the case was found to be deteriorating and transferred to the ICU on the same day.
“The patient was confirmed dead at 12.52am on Sept 27.”
