PETALING JAYA: Police arrested 661 individuals yesterday over movement control order-related offences, with 577 of the arrests at pubs and nightclubs.
Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 648 were issued compounds while 13 were remanded.
The other offences includes not wearing face masks in public, failing to practise physical distancing, failing to provide equipment for contact tracing registration and operating beyond permitted hours.
A total of 2,551 compliance task force teams involving 11,601 personnel conducted checks at 58,813 premises including supermarkets, restaurants, hawker stalls, factories, banks, government offices, as well as land, water and air transport terminals.
Ismail said border control teams detained 40 illegal immigrants and one smuggler yesterday. Nine vehicles were also seized.
On mandatory home quarantine, he said 36,344 people who arrived through KLIA were screened for Covid-19 from July 24 to Sept 27 and were quarantined.
A total of 103 tested positive and were sent to hospital, while 28,006 were allowed to
return home. A total of 8,235 people are undergoing mandatory quarantine.
