KUANTAN: The second Covid-19 screening test, using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method, on Felda Affairs, Cooperatives, Entrepreneurship and Consumerism Committee chairman Nazri Ngah has been confirmed negative.

Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said Pahang health director Dr Bahari Awang Ngah informed him of the result this morning, after Nazri was required to undergo a second test yesterday.

In a statement today, he said he was also told that all those in close contact with Nazri did not have risk of infection.

Wan Rosdy was commenting on claims that a state executive councillor from Jerantut had been confirmed as Covid-19 positive yesterday and had been told by the health department to go for treatment at a hospital.

Nazri is the assemblyman for Pulau Tawar in Jerantut, where four Covid-19 positive cases had been detected on Friday and Sunday.

Since then, the Pahang exco members had carried out self-isolation while awaiting the result of the second screening test on Nazri as they had all met at a function in Kuala Lumpur.

Separately, Wan Rosdy said the state exco meeting today would be carried out online as a precautionary measure.
