PAGOH: Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin says the government has spent almost RM2 billion for the health ministry to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
Almost RM400 million of the amount has been channelled to Sabah, the state most affected by the third wave of the infection.
Muhyiddin said the government aid for Sabah included food and medical equipment.
“This morning, I went to the Subang airport to send off several tonnes of personal protective equipment, face masks and other necessities that cost thousands of ringgit,” he said after the 24th annual general meeting of the Sungai Terap Cooperative at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bukit Pasir here today.
Muhyiddin also hinted that Budget 2021 would focus on further efforts to combat the pandemic.
He said the government would also take into consideration the people’s well-being and economic recovery when tabling the budget on Nov 6.
Muhyiddin said he could not announce details of the budget yet because it was confidential but the Perikatan Nasional government would provide additional measures to help the people.
“I know that the whole country is facing difficulties because of the pandemic, not just in Pagoh,” he added.
