IPOH: All 59 Perak assemblymen, including those from Pakatan Harapan, today supported a motion brought in the state assembly to express support for Saarani Mohamad as the new Perak menteri besar.
The motion was tabled by Trong assemblyman Jamilah Zakaria and seconded by Belanja assemblyman Khairuddin Abu Hanifah, both from Umno.
State assembly speaker Mohamad Zahir Abdul Khalid asked all assemblymen in support of the motion to stand in their places, to which all elected representatives stood up.
Opposition assemblymen and ousted menteri besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu also stood to support Saarani’s appointment.
Zahir said the motion was submitted by Jamilah this morning before proceedings began at 2.30pm and praised the assemblymen for exhibiting maturity in the vote.
