2 new KL clusters among 5 detected

The new clusters were detected in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Kelantan and Putrajaya.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry reported five new Covid-19 clusters today.

Two of the clusters are in Kuala Lumpur while Johor, Kelantan and Putrajaya reported one each.

The Jalan Gadang cluster involving Lembah Pantai and Cheras in Kuala Lumpur was detected from targeted screenings. Positive cases have been identified since Dec 13.

As at Dec 28, 375 individuals were screened, of whom 13 were found to be positive.

Meanwhile, the index case for the Menara Sri workplace cluster involving the districts of Cheras, Kepong, Lembah Pantai and Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur and also Kerian in Perak had tested positive on Dec 24 after symptomatic individual screenings.

Of the 51 individuals screened so far, 14 tested positive.

On the Bukit Pasir workplace cluster in Johor, Noor Hisham said the first positive case was detected on Dec 24 following symptomatic screenings.

As at Dec 28, the cluster involving Muar had a total of nine positive cases from screenings involving 14 individuals.

On the Pintu Geng cluster from Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Noor Hisham said it was first detected after an individual tested positive on Dec 25 following symptomatic screenings.

Of the 130 people screened so far, 21 tested positive.

Noor Hisham added that the Putra 15 cluster from Putrajaya was detected when an individual went for screenings after exhibiting symptoms. He was found to be positive on Dec 26.

Of the 31 people screened so far, eight were found to be positive.

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham announced that four clusters have officially ended today, bringing the total number of active clusters to 214. The four are the Putra-18, the Tawau temporary detention centre, the Tamar and the Intan clusters.
