This was revealed by PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man in an interview with FMT today.
“Despite this, the alliance will continue to be strengthened. Muafakat Nasional is not just a political alliance, but one to also unite the ‘ummah’,” he said, using the Arabic term to describe Muslims.
Meanwhile, the Islamist party’s vice-president Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah told FMT that there have been no suggestions for a new name for the alliance.
In October, Umno and PAS agreed to officially register MN with the RoS.
MN was formally set up in September last year as an alliance between Umno and PAS, the two largest Malay-Muslim parties. However, in August, PPBM was accepted into the fold by the two parties, having left the Pakatan Harapan coalition earlier this year.
