
Ask any Malaysian what they thought about the year 2020, and many would say it was a strange and tragic year fraught with political turbulence, economic uncertanties and fear of illness and death.
Understandably, only a few would characterise 2020 as a year of hope, humanity and happiness in the midst of deepening gloom.
As Desmond Tutu said, “Hope is being able to see that there is light, despite all of the darkness.”
In that same vein, FMT compiled a list of heartwarming stories featuring many ordinary Malaysians who rose above economic hardship and emotional pain to become everyday heroes.
2020 has shown that in times of crisis, true heroes shine the brightest. They need not wear a cape and achieve great feats, but they have nevertheless made a positive impact on our community and our country.
As the curtain comes down on 2020, here’s one last look at the year that may have brought us to our knees but also restored our faith in the resilience of the human spirit.
