PETALING JAYA: A cargo train has derailed near the Batu Tiga station in Selangor, blocking both directions of the railway tracks.
The train had been heading to West Port, Klang, from Padang Besar, Perlis, when the incident happened early today.
In a statement, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) chief executive Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin said no lives were lost in the incident, although the line’s services have been suspended following the derailment.
He said 11 of the train’s 50 carriages were derailed, while the remaining 39 coaches and the train’s locomotive were still on the tracks.

“A probe has been launched to identify the cause of this incident,” he said, adding that KTMB was in the midst of shifting the carriages to repair the tracks.
It has prepared feeder buses for passengers seeking to travel from Subang Jaya station to the Shah Alam station.
“The latest updates will be made from time to time. KTMB apologises for the inconvenience that has arisen.”
