It also told PAS to make a decision on whether it will work with Umno or PPBM in facing the 15th general election.
In a statement, Kelantan Umno secretary Akbar Salim said the decision follows a meeting of the state chapter last night, attended by 12 out of 13 divisions. Umno’s Tanah Merah division is still suspended.
“Kelantan Umno continues to support the leadership of Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as the party president, having been elected democratically,” he said.
“The Ketereh Umno division’s stand, as presented to the president, is an isolated case because it did not go through the state chapter.”
The Ketereh division had sent a letter containing four resolutions signed by 30 of its committee members to Zahid on Monday.
Its chief, Annuar Musa, said the four resolutions included a pledge to continue supporting the ruling coalitions in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) federal government and the state governments of Sabah (Gabungan Rakyat Sabah) and Sarawak (Gabungan Parti Sarawak).
Umno is set to hold its annual general assembly this weekend, which is expected to discuss the proposal for the party to formally cut ties with PPBM.
