Your govt can collapse at any time, PPBM warns Johor MB

Johor PPBM deputy chairman Md Nasir Hashim says just two of its representatives switching their support will bring an end to Hasni Mohammad's reign as menteri besar.

Johor menteri besar Hasni Mohammad belittled PPBM’s contribution and standing in the state government in his speech at the Umno general assembly.
PAGOH:
Tensions have reached a peak in Johor with PPBM warning Umno that their arrogance could see the state government collapse at any time.

Johor PPBM deputy chairman Md Nasir Hashim said it would take just two of its assemblymen pulling out their support and menteri besar Hasni Mohammad’s reign would come to an end.

Citing Hasni’s remarks at the Umno general assembly over the weekend, Nasir said his party was disappointed after the former had belittled PPBM’s contributions and standing in the state government.

“Hasni should have been more careful with his statements. As the menteri besar, he should instead focus on developing the state and improving the economy along with its allies in Perikatan Nasional (PN),” said Nasir.

Nasir said if Hasni continued to be arrogant, it would strain the ties among the parties and this will give the people a negative impression of the government’s stability and integrity.

“I would like to remind the menteri besar, that if there are any of our assemblymen who are disappointed by his statement and stance, the current state government can fall at any time,” he said at a press conference here today.

The BN-PN joint state government has 29 seats – Umno (14), PPBM (12), MIC (2) and PAS (1) – against Pakatan Harapan’s 27 seats, which comprises DAP (14), PKR (7) and Amanah (6).

On Saturday, Hasni said a study by Umno found that support for PN was weak in the state when compared to that of Umno’s.

Hasni also claimed that Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s position was shaky, including in the Pagoh parliamentary constituency which the latter has won in the past six general elections.

His statement comes as ties between the two parties remain strained with Umno declaring that they would not work with PPBM in the 15th general election (GE15).
