PETALING JAYA: The operating hours for Aidilfitri bazaars will be extended until 2am starting tomorrow, senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced today.
Ismail added, however, that interstate travel is not allowed due to the increased number of infections.
In terms of Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, detailed SOPs will be announced soon, he said.
Previously, the health ministry proposed a ban on interstate travel, including during the Hari Raya celebrations, owing to the Covid-19 situation.
According to a Bernama report, health minister Dr Adham Baba said the ministry would recommend that the lifting of interstate travel restrictions be postponed.
Meanwhile, Ismail also announced that SM Sains Banting in Selangor will be under an enhanced MCO (EMCO) from tomorrow until May 7.
The MCO in Lahad Datu and EMCO at Kampung Muhibbah Raya in Tawau, Sabah will be extended until May 8.
In Sarawak, the EMCO at Mukah Polytechnic College and longhouses in the district will also be extended until May 8.
However, the EMCO at Kampung Bukit Balacon in Segama, Lahad Datu, Sabah will end tomorrow, he added.
On the arrests yesterday, Ismail said 159 people were arrested for various offences where 140 were issued compounds and 19 remanded.
Among the offences were the failure to wear a face mask (39), failure to record personal details/check-in at premises (62), flouting physical-distancing rules (10), and others (48).
Authorities also seized 10 vehicles and arrested 56 illegal migrants yesterday as part of border surveillance operations.
