PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 7,105 Covid-19 cases and 71 deaths in the past 24 hours.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 6,083 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 496,121.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 579,462.
There are 80,474 active cases with 872 patients being treated in intensive care and 419 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the 71 deaths take the number of fatalities to 2,867. It marks the third highest deaths in a day, following the 98 recorded on Saturday and 79 on Sunday.
Selangor recorded the highest number of cases yet again with 2,068.
This was followed by Kuala Lumpur (817), Sarawak (703), Kelantan (531), Johor (431), Penang (400), Negeri Sembilan (397), Perak (387), Sabah (318), Melaka (249), Kedah (236), Terengganu (198), Pahang (190), Labuan (162) and Putrajaya (18).
Perlis did not record any new cases today.
There were 7,103 local infections today, comprising 6,550 Malaysians and 553 foreigners, as well as two imported cases.
The 71 deceased comprised 69 Malaysians and two foreigners, aged between 27 and 93. All but eight had existing medical conditions.
