Ex-CM Idris played out by DAP, says Rauf
Melaka Umno chief Ab Rauf Yusoh also says Pakatan Harapan did not respect MoU signed at the federal level.
PETALING JAYA: Melaka Umno chief Ab Rauf Yusoh has alleged that former chief minister Idris Haron was “played out” by the DAP.
Speaking at the launch of the Barisan Nasional (BN) Melaka state election machinery, Rauf also accused Pakatan Harapan (PH) of aiding in the downfall of the state government, leading to the Nov 20 polls.
FMT is seeking Idris and DAP’s comments.
In his speech, Rauf said state BN leaders were aware of the plan to topple the government.
He alleged that Idris, who is the former Sungai Udang assemblyman and former state Umno leader, had wanted to become chief minister again.
“That is why another former chief minister Adly Zahari connected Idris with PH,” he said.
However, the DAP central leadership rejected the proposal for Idris to become chief minister again and that it had wanted Amanah’s Adly to return as chief minister.
“So he (Idris) was played out, the government was toppled and in the end he did not get to be CM.”
Rauf added that had PH honoured the memorandum of understanding (MoU) it signed with the federal government, the Melaka state administration would not have collapsed.
He also said that while he met his Melaka DAP counterpart, it was not true that he sought a lifeline from them.
“I will not allow the state administration to be handed to DAP, even for a minute,” said Rauf, adding that he only discussed the matter of the possible collapse of the state government with them.

However, he said, the Melaka DAP chairman said the fall of the state government was Umno’s problem as it was the party’s own men that withdrew support for the state administration.
