
Yesterday 4,626 cases were reported, while on Friday 5,058 new infections were detected. On Thursday, there were 5,446 cases.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,691,639.
He said 5,399 patients had recovered, while 407 patients remain in intensive care, 341 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 66 suspected of being infected.
A total of 216 patients needed respiratory assistance, with 135 Covid-19 positive and the remaining 81 suspected of being positive.
There were 3,476 local infections today, involving 3,322 Malaysians and 154 foreigners, and 14 imported cases.
Of these, only 2.0% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.
Noor Hisham also said two clusters were reported today.
The overall national Covid-19 infectivity rate remained at 0.97, with Perlis having the highest level of 1.15, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Johor, and Pahang at levels just above 1.0, Terengganu at 1.0 and other states below 1.0.
