4,262 new Covid-19 cases, 6 clusters

This brings the total number of infections to 2,707,402.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 4,262 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, up from the 3,900 cases yesterday.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 2,707,402 cases.

He said 4,985 patients had recovered.

Meanwhile, 383 patients are warded in intensive care units (ICU), 284 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 99 suspected of being infected.

Of the patients in ICU, 198 required respiratory assistance, with 135 having tested positive for Covid-19 and the remaining 63 suspected of being positive.

There were 4,226 local infections today, involving 4,041 Malaysians and 185 foreigners, and 36 imported cases.

Of these, only 1.8% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.

Noor Hisham also said there were six clusters reported today.
