
KUCHING: All polling centres in Sarawak’s 82 state constituencies have closed, with the counting of votes set to begin.
The highly anticipated election saw 10 parties, including Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), DAP, PKR as well as 30 independent candidates, clash for seats in Malaysia’s largest state.
A total of 349 candidates are in the running for the 82 seats up for grabs at the polls, which saw four straight fights, 13 three-cornered fights, 33 four-cornered fights, 24 five-cornered fights, seven six-cornered fights and one eight-cornered fight.
As of 4pm, about 55% of the 1.2 million voters in the state had cast their votes.
