PETALING JAYA: The national immunisation programme for children (PICKids) will accept walk-ins at selected vaccination centres starting March 1.
State health departments will release the list of vaccination centres through their respective websites, deputy health minister Noor Azmi Ghazali said in a statement today.
“Parents and guardians are recommended to check the list and take the opportunity to vaccinate their children during the school holidays,” he said.
He also said the ministry would be updating the appointment system on the MySejahtera app in stages starting today so that parents or guardians who wish to make appointments for their children’s vaccination can do so from March 7.
PICKids is aiming to vaccinate 3.6 million children aged five to 12 ahead of the new school year and to make sure that the risk of infection is minimised as well as to prevent clusters and cases among school staff.
The programme, which has been ongoing since Feb 3, has successfully administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccines to 661,752 (18.6%) children in the age bracket so far.
Among the states with the highest vaccination rate for children are Sarawak (34.7%) followed by Melaka (31.6%), Penang (25.7%), and Perak (24.4%).
