
PETALING JAYA: Two men died on hiking trips today, one while going up Gunung Jasar in Cameron Highlands and the other while climbing up Mount Kinabalu.
A 52-year-old French tourist, Marc Anthoine Anne Mane, collapsed while hiking on Gunung Jasar this morning.
A rescue team failed to revive him with CPR, and his death was confirmed later by a doctor, the Pahang fire and rescue department said, Berita Harian reported.
The other man was a 51-year-old Sarawakian who was going to the Panar Laban base camp on Mount Kinabalu when he collapsed this afternoon.
His mountain guide reported the incident to Sabah Parks and fire and rescue.
A rescue team, with park staff and mountain guides, attempted CPR. The hiker was carried on a stretcher to Timpohon Gate where his death was confirmed by a doctor.
