PETALING JAYA: A man who earlier today caused a commotion at the Kuala Lumpur court complex, where former prime minister Najib Razak’s 1MDB trial was being heard, is being probed for causing public nuisance.
Police are also investigating him under the Minor Offences Act for breaching the peace following his outburst, Sentul police chief Beh Eng Lai said.
The suspect, he said, had wanted to attend Najib’s hearing but was denied entry and politely told to leave.
“However, at the court lobby, the man went on a tirade, which he directed at media practitioners covering the trial,” he said in a statement.
Police later ordered him to leave the area.
Beh also urged those with information on the incident to contact the Sentul police station at 03-4048 2206.
Meanwhile, Harian Metro quoted Beh as saying that the suspect was a teacher and he was believed to be suffering from mental illness.
