PETALING JAYA: The father of an infant who died while under the care of a babysitter is calling for a thorough investigation into the death of his daughter.
“I also hope that the action taken will serve as a lesson to other babysitters so that they will be more responsible in doing their job,” Khairul Shamsuddin told FMT.
Khairul had previously claimed on Facebook that the babysitter had informed his wife that their 10-month-old baby, Nur Awliya Delisha, was found unconscious on the floor on Aug 19.
He said they immediately took the infant to the hospital where the doctor told them that the baby suffered internal bleeding. Her skull was also fractured.
Nur Awliya died at Shah Alam Hospital on Aug 22.
Shah Alam police chief Iqbal Ibrahim said an autopsy was conducted on Aug 23.
He said the 36-year-old babysitter, who is five months pregnant, had eight children, including Nur Awliya, in her care at her house in Section 17. The kids range in age from three months to four years.
Iqbal said police investigations under the Child Act were ongoing.
