
KUALA LUMPUR: Five more Malaysian victims of job scam syndicates in Cambodia returned home yesterday.
The foreign ministry said that with their return, 148 victims of job scams in Cambodia had been rescued out of 158 cases reported.
It said the Malaysian embassy in Phnom Penh was actively pursuing efforts to track down the others.
In a statement, the ministry also said it was intensifying efforts to rescue Malaysians duped by other syndicates in Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar through the Malaysian embassies in those countries.
Sixteen Malaysians have so far been rescued in Thailand, 27 in Laos and five in Myanmar.
Another 12 victims are being tracked down in Thailand, 28 in Laos and 54 in Myanmar.
