PETALING JAYA: A drunk driver is believed to have killed a pedestrian and injured another at Jalan Banting-Kajang near here last night.
Bernama quoted Kajang police chief Zaid Hassan as saying the car driver, in his 30s, tested positive for driving under the influence of alcohol and had been remanded for four days beginning today.
He said the driver also rammed into several cars parked in front of a restaurant at the scene of the accident.
The accident occurred at about 9pm when two women, in their 20s, were hit by a car coming from the direction of Kajang Sentral.
“One victim suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at Serdang Hospital’s emergency unit.
“The other victim, who was seriously injured, was sent to Kajang Hospital for further treatment,” he said in a statement today.
Zaid also urged anyone with information on the accident to contact any police station in the Kajang district or the investigating officer Insp Feaisal Mokhtar at 012-9454655.
