KANGAR: Perlis Perikatan Nasional has pledged to restore the glory of the state football team as part of its general election manifesto.
Perlis PN deputy chairman Abu Bakar Hamzah said the coalition intended to revive the team if PN succeeds in gaining power in Perlis on Nov 19.
“The state football team won the Malaysia Cup in 2004 and 2006, so we want to bring back the glory of the Northern Lions for the sake of the people after a long period of decline,” he told reporters today.
Abu Bakar said Perlis PN would contest all 15 state assembly seats, with nine to be contested by PAS and six by Bersatu.
PAS would contest the Padang Besar and Arau parliamentary seats while Bersatu would contest Kangar.
Perlis PAS Youth chief Asrul Aimran Abd Jalil said the party would use social media to attract voters, especially young people. PAS would no longer focus on large ceramahs but would host small-scale campaigning relevant to the division or area.
