
PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional has won four parliamentary seats, three of which are in Johor, in results declared so far, and is believed to be ahead in six other seats.
BN’s victories are in Simpang Renggam, Pengerang and Kota Tinggi, won by former Johor menteri besar Hasni Mohammad, former law minister Azalina Othman Said and former higher education minister Khaled Nordin, respectively.
Wanita Umno chief Noraini Ahmad also retained Parit Sulong.
BN also won the Beaufort parliamentary seat in Sabah after its candidate Siti Aminah Aching defeated five others.
According to the BN communications team, the coalition is also ahead in Tapah and Rembau, where MIC deputy president M Saravanan and Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan are contesting.
Bernama meanwhile reported that BN has unofficially retained Tenggara, Pontian and Sembrong (where former Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein is seeking re-election).
Malaysiakini meanwhile reported that transport minister Wee Ka Siong has retained Ayer Hitam.
