PETALING JAYA: Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani has rubbished claims that he had contacted Pakatan Harapan chairman Anwar Ibrahim last night to ask him to prepare to form the government after the general election.
According to Utusan Malaysia, Acryl Sani said such claims were “completely untrue”.
“I don’t intend to take any action in light of his remarks. Maybe in his excitement, he (Anwar) misspoke during his campaign speech,” he said.
The report stated that a video of Anwar claiming Acryl Sani had contacted him had been circulating on social media.
“Yesterday, I was in Kangar, Kuantan, Shah Alam, Bandar Tun Razak, Titiwangsa … and I heard that PH has secured 112 (parliamentary seats),” Anwar was reported as saying.
“The inspector-general of police then contacted me to get ready. God willing, I will be sworn in as the new prime minister.”
