PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Muhyiddin Yassin thanked his supporters for remaining steadfast with him throughout the general election (GE15).
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Muhyiddin said he knows he is not alone as he had “brothers and sisters” that lifted him up throughout his political battles.
“This fight is not mine alone, this fight is by all Malaysians,” he said.
He said that when he recalled the support PN received during GE15, it touched him and it brought tears to his eyes.
“I too am a normal human being, capable of feeling sadness and disappointment. I’m just a regular man who can cry,” he said.
Muhyiddin told his supporters to remain strong as “the road ahead is a tough and distant one.”
He also told his supporters that the “torch of their struggles” is still brightly lit and to strengthen themselves, adding that by being patient, sincere, and steadfast to the nation’s trust, there would be “a light beyond the tunnel”.
“Tell yourselves that tomorrow is another day. We will rebuild Malaysia with every fibre of our being and in any capacity we can. Malaysia belongs to us all,” he said.
On Thursday, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim was appointed the 10th prime minister following a meeting between the King and the Malay rulers.
The King had initially asked PH and PN to form a unity government after the general election ended in a hung Parliament, but Muhyiddin said he turned this down as PN could not work with PH.
