PETALING JAYA: Former Langkawi MP Nawawi Ahmad has died, aged 61.
According to a Berita Harian report, Nawawi, the Langkawi Umno chief, died at 3am in Frankfurt, Germany.
Nawawi, a Tenaga Nasional Berhad board member, was in Germany for a work visit and was accompanied by his wife, Sabariah Hassan.
He will be buried in Frankfurt.
Nawawi was a two-term assemblyman for Kuah between 2004 and 2013.
He won the Langkawi parliamentary seat in the 2013 general election. He contested the seat again in 2018 but was defeated by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
