PETALING JAYA: PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang is trying to divide Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders with his claims that DAP is promoting Islamophobia, says Loke Siew Fook.
“His (Hadi) statement can be seen as an attempt to pit DAP against PH.
“We have to be patient and we will explain (rebut Hadi’s claims),” he said, according to a Berita Harian report.
“If we find anything (in Hadi’s statement) to be slanderous in nature, we will file a police report,” he said.
Yesterday, Hadi accused DAP of promoting an Islamophobic narrative and preventing PAS from being in a position of power. He described the PH component party as being “immoral”.
The Marang MP has since said that he was ready to give his statement to the police following calls for him to be probed over his comments.
Subsequently, PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil challenged Hadi to lodge a police report against DAP if he had proof that the party was promoting Islamophobia.
Meanwhile, Loke said the PH leadership has yet to have a detailed discussion on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s Cabinet.
“The matter was discussed in general (by PH leaders). There were discussions (on ministerial portfolios), but (ultimately) it is the prime minister’s prerogative,” added Loke.
