PETALING JAYA:
Perikatan Nasional (PN) has appointed Cheka assemblyman Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man as its opposition leader for the Pahang state assembly.

Pahang PN chairman Saifuddin Abdullah said he would inform the Pahang state assembly speaker regarding the PAS deputy president’s appointment.

“We propose that the position of opposition leader in this state assembly be given an official function and status just like some other state assemblies and following the example in Dewan Rakyat,” Bernama quoted him as saying at a press conference in Rompin, Pahang.

Saifuddin said PN had also agreed to name Lepar assemblyman Yazid Yunus as chief whip in the Pahang state assembly.

In GE15, Tuan Ibrahim won the Cheka state seat with a majority of 1,223 votes, defeating Barisan Nasional candidate Ho Fong Mee, who received 4,411 votes, Rashid Mohamad (Pakatan Harapan) who got 2,255 votes and Pejuang candidate Aishaton Abu Bakar, who lost his deposit after getting only 81 votes.

Aside from Cheka, Tuan Ibrahim also won the Kubang Kerian parliamentary seat in Kelantan.
