Hulu Langat MP Sany Hamzan has said he was gathering information on the alleged misappropriation of funds by Muhyiddin Yassin’s administration.
PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will be meeting Hulu Langat MP Sany Hamzan for more information on claims of alleged misappropriation of funds by Muhyiddin Yassin’s government.
This comes after Sany claimed he was gathering evidence and was ready to furnish it to the authorities after lodging a report against Muhyiddin on Nov 30.
A source told FMT that MACC would meet Sany “at the soonest”.
On Tuesday, MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki confirmed that the anti-graft agency had initiated investigations into the matter.
The day before, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim told a press conference that he was informed by Treasury officials that there were serious violations of procedures in Putrajaya’s expenditure under Muhyiddin’s stewardship.
This included excessive procurements and high markups.
Muhyiddin has repeatedly denied the claims and maintained that none of the funds had been misappropriated by his government, adding that he was ready to be probed and brought to court over this.
He also said he did not know where the RM600 billion figure came from, adding that people could be referring to the eight stimulus packages worth RM530 billion unveiled by his government.
