PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has confirmed that the Prego Carbonara Mushroom pasta sauce produced in Malaysia is being pulled off shelves due to product spoilage.
The ministry, through its food safety and quality division, said it would be monitoring the product’s recall process.
“We received a notification from Campbell Cheong Chan Sdn Bhd, who confirmed that the product is sold in Malaysia.
“The company has identified the cause of the damage as being due to a manufacturing error and is in the process of recalling the product in the market,” it said, adding that all traders must stop selling the product immediately.
The affected products – under lot number 2022081716 – were produced on Aug 17 from 10.18pm to 11.20pm.
The ministry advised those who have consumed the product to see a doctor if they feel unwell or are experiencing symptoms of food poisoning.
For any information or concerns regarding this issue, the ministry said consumers can contact the nearest district health office through its website or Facebook page.
Yesterday, the same product was recalled in Singapore, Channel News Asia (CNA) reported, quoting the Singapore Food Agency.
The agency said it was informed by The Arnott’s Group of the spoilage, adding that Campbell Soup Southeast Asia (Singapore branch) has been directed to recall the products.
