PETALING JAYA:
A brawl between two elderly friends over a RM250 debt resulted in the death of one of them in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, this morning.

According to Sentul police, a fight broke out in a restaurant at Metro Prima after the suspect failed to settle the money owed to the 76-year-old victim.

In the 6.45am incident, the 63-year-old suspect struck the victim with a plastic chair, and the victim hit him back with a rod, Sentul police chief Beh Eng Lai said.

He said some People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) members in the area intervened and separated the duo.

The victim then walked away but collapsed about 100m from the restaurant and died.

“The suspect was arrested at the Kepong police station after he came to lodge a report over the incident at 11am,” Beh said.

He added that the post-mortem investigation revealed that the cause of death was due to “Ischaemic Heart Disease Due To Coronary Artery Atherosclerosis”.

However, the police will continue to obtain a remand order for the suspect tomorrow to assist in the investigation for murder.
