PETALING JAYA: Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor says the state legislative assembly can only be dissolved after June 18 to pave the way for a state election.
According to Bernama, Sanusi said this was in view of the fasting month as well as the Aidilfitri and Aidiladha celebrations.
“We have the fasting month and Hari Raya in March and April. Then, people will be leaving for the haj pilgrimage, so we’ll have to wait for them to return.
“And another important date in Kedah is June 18, which is the sultan of Kedah’s birthday. It’s only after that we can (dissolve the state assembly),” he said.
While PAS will not make a joint decision with Pakatan Harapan (PH) on when it will dissolve the legislative assemblies in the three states it leads, Sanusi hoped that all six states would be able to hold their elections concurrently.
He confirmed that there were unofficial talks with other states, saying he had even spoken to Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun on the matter.
PAS governs Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, while Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang are governed by PH.
