PETALING JAYA: A policeman has been charged in the Kangar magistrates’ court with murdering his pregnant wife at a house in Simpang Empat, Perlis, on March 5.
Nizarman Hassim, 27, was visibly calm as the charge was read before magistrate Ana Rozana Nor. No plea was recorded as the case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
Before being ushered out of the courtroom, Nizarman said: “I only want to say one thing, I want to visit my wife’s grave.”
Nizarman was charged with killing Safsufarnisya Salleh, 26, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.
State prosecution director Nordin Ismail prosecuted while the lance corporal was not represented.
The court approved Nordin’s request for Nizarman to be sent to a psychiatric hospital for a month to undergo psychiatric evaluation.
Ana Rozana set April 14 for mention of the case while awaiting a psychiatric report on the accused.
Two weeks ago, Kangar police chief Yusharifuddin Yusop said a policeman had been arrested after they received a report that there had been a shooting at a house.
