PETALING JAYA: The youth wings of the various parties in the unity government are set to be brought together on one platform known as “Geng Perpaduan” to win over young voters in the upcoming state elections.
According to Utusan Malaysia, Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh said the platform would be launched at the unity government’s national convention which will be held at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur this Sunday.
The formation of the “Geng Perpaduan” exemplified the consensus among the parties in Putrajaya, particularly between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional, he said.
“All the youth wings of each political party in the government will be involved in (campaigning) for the upcoming state elections.
“This will also display the close partnerships between the parties’ youth wings, combating claims that there are cracks in the unity government,” he said.
Akmal added that the platform would also involve Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, Warisan and Muda.
“We’re expecting up to 3,000 youths of ‘Geng Perpaduan’ to attend the launch this Sunday.”
